🪔 About

Malini Nair, an accomplished Indian classical dancer and teacher, was born on August 13, 1975, in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala, India. Her journey into classical dance began at the tender age of three, where she immersed herself in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam. She received foundational training under the esteemed Guru Kalamandalam Padma Sasikumar and further honed her skills with Guru Dr. Neena Prasad. Additionally, Nair enriched her artistic perspective by attending workshops led by renowned dance legends such as Dr. Rama Vaidyanathan, Dr. Vyjayanthi Kashi, Dr. Shijith Krishna, Smt. Divya Ram, and Sr. L. Narendra Kumar. Academically, Nair pursued a B-Tech in Civil Engineering from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum. In January 2008, she founded the Sowparnika Dance Academy in Kendall Park, New Jersey, USA, where she serves as the artistic director. The academy is a premier institution offering comprehensive training in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, semi-classical, Bollywood, and folk dance forms to both children and adults, annually instructing over 100 students and providing specialized arangetram training.
