🪔 About

Meenakshi Seshadri, born Shashikala Seshadri on November 16, 1963, in Sindri, Bihar (now Jharkhand), is a distinguished Indian classical dancer and former actress. She received extensive training in four prominent Indian classical dance forms: Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, and Odissi. Her Kuchipudi training was under the renowned guru Vempati Chinna Satyam, and she also studied under Jaya Rama Rao. After a successful career as a leading Bollywood actress in the 1980s and 1990s, Meenakshi Seshadri retired from the film industry in 1995 following her marriage to investment banker Harish Mysore. She subsequently moved to the United States, where she continued to pursue her passion for dance. She founded the "Cherish Dance School," initially in Plano, Texas, in 2008. At her academy, she teaches Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Odissi. She later relocated to Washington D.C.. Meenakshi Seshadri actively performs with her students at various charity events and fundraisers. Her life and journey were also chronicled in a documentary titled "Meenakshi: Accept Her Wings". In recent years, she has continued to captivate audiences with her classical dance performances and has announced a Bharatanatyam learning series.
