Meera - Fanny Marquet is a distinguished Kathak dancer, deeply rooted in the Banaras Gharana tradition, having trained for over two decades under the tutelage of her esteemed guru, Pandit Ravi Shankar Mishra. Her journey into Kathak began at the age of twelve, leading her to India at a young age to immerse herself in the country's rich culture, which she considers inseparable from the dance form. Captivated by Benares and Kathak, she made the city her home in 2011, integrating into her master's family life and progressively establishing herself within India's professional artistic landscape. Since 2008, Meera has graced numerous prestigious Indian stages, performing at renowned festivals and institutions such as the Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samaroh, ICCR, and Sangeet Natak Academy. She has also performed for the Maharaja of Banaras and the Sangeet Sabha Kashi association. Her guru bestowed upon her the Indian artist name "Meera." Beyond her performance career, she has been a dedicated educator, teaching in various schools across India and Europe. Returning to Switzerland in 2022, Meera is now based in Geneva, where she continues to propagate Kathak. For over a decade, she has served as an instructor in Geneva's community centers, conducting numerous workshops and courses for children. She is the visionary founder of Nateshwar, a non-profit association active in both Switzerland and India, committed to promoting Indian classical music and dance, particularly Kathak, through concerts, performances, courses, and workshops. Meera's artistic background also includes training in various Western dance styles, including hip-hop, jazz, ballet, and modern dance. She has collaborated with other dancers, notably co-founding "Compagnie Sapana" with Annjali Shah and frequently performing with Priscilla Brülhart - Gauri.
