Meghala Bhat Hirasave is a prominent performing artist and teacher of Bharatanatyam and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, based in Melbourne, Australia. Her extensive training in Bharatanatyam commenced at the age of nine under the tutelage of Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, Director of the Vasundhara Performing Arts Centre in Mysore, India. Meghala graduated from this esteemed institution, where she also served as a senior lecturer. She further distinguished herself academically by completing her Vidwath (Dance) Examination with distinction and achieving a rank in the Junior Examination, both conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Board. She also holds a Master's degree in Bio-chemistry. In Australia, Meghala Bhat Hirasave is the director of Art of Vinyasa – Performing Arts and Yoga institute in Melbourne, which operates as a branch of the Vasundhara Performing Arts Centre. She has led this institution for the past six to eight years, imparting knowledge in Bharatanatyam and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Her performance career includes numerous solo presentations and leading roles in group productions by the Vasundhara Performing Arts Centre across India and Australia. Notable performances include showcasing Indian Classical Dance at the Victorian state Parliament for Indian Independence Day and performing at the Global Dialogue Foundation in collaboration with the United Nations in Melbourne. Meghala has significantly contributed to the cultural landscape of Melbourne, initiating "Dance Mela," a classical dance festival to celebrate International Dance Day. From 2010 to 2013, she served as the founding Secretary and Advisor for Dance in the Federation of Indian Music and Dance - Victoria (FIMDV), playing a crucial role in organizing the Festival of Indian Fine Arts. Her efforts have been instrumental in fostering cultural awareness within the Australian-Indian community. She was also featured in Michel Lawrence's "Indian Aussies" project, launched during the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
