Monisha Patil Bharadwaj is an accomplished Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam, with additional training in Kathak. Born in Mumbai, India, she began her Bharatanatyam training at the tender age of four or five, dedicating over 30 years to the study of this classical art form. Her primary guru was Thiruvidamaruthur Kuppiah Kalyanasundaram, also known as Guru Kalyam Sundaram of Rajesh Kalamandir, with whom she trained for 25 years. Patil has graced numerous stages with her performances, including notable venues such as the Nehru Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum, and has performed in the presence of HM the Queen. Her career also saw her collaborate with the acclaimed Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company in the UK during the late 1980s and early 1990s, contributing to projects like "Configurations" and "Making of Maps." She has shared the stage with other respected dancers, including Vani Ganapathy and Meera Dhanu. Monisha Patil Bharadwaj is also a dedicated teacher, continuing to impart her knowledge through dance lessons, including online sessions via Zoom. Beyond her dance career, she is also known as an author and chef residing in the UK.
