Mousam Nandi commenced his journey in Indian classical dance at the age of six, receiving his initial training from Late Gobindo Chakraborty. He continued his foundational education for a decade under the guidance of Srijan. Further honing his skills, Nandi trained with Bharat Banerjee and Sunita Banerjee, which led to him becoming a regular stage performer. He also delved into Bharatnatyam, taking lessons from Late Sukdev Mukherjee. Mousam Nandi has since established himself prominently in the field of Manipuri Dance, having learned from esteemed gurus Kalavati Devi and Bimbavati Devi. Throughout his career, Nandi has graced numerous stages across India and internationally. Early in his career, in Jamshedpur, he participated in various dance competitions and staged productions such as 'BIRPURUSH', 'SHYAMA', and 'DUI BIGHA JAMIN' alongside Late Guru Sukhdev Mukherjee. He also toured extensively with the 'SRIJAN' group, earning widespread appreciation. His notable performances include the Annual show 2007 in Salt Lake Nartanalaya, Salmohul Utsav in Jhargram, and the Basanta Utsav organized by the Rajya Sangit Academy. He also performed at the Haldia festival. Significant appearances include the Uday Shankar Festival in Kolkata in 2004, the 25th anniversary of the Rajya Sangit Academy Celebration in 2006, and a performance for Kolkata Doordarshan celebrating the 75th year of Gitobitan in Rabindra Bharati University in 2006. Other performances in 2006 included the Vidya Sagar Mela in Kolkata. In 2007, he performed at the International Confederation cultural evening organized by IIIT Allahabad and the 9th National Festival of New Choreographies in Delhi. The year 2008 saw him performing at the 25th-anniversary celebration of Navanritya, the Inaugural Ceremony of the Rabindranath Tagore Centre (ICCR) in Kolkata, the Aditya Bikram Birla Kalanedhi Award ceremony in Mumbai, Nehru Centre's Dance Festival in Mumbai, and The Times of India Kalaghora Art Festival. He was also featured in the 'Stars of Tomorrow in the Dance Arena' organized by the West Bengal Dance Group Federation in Kolkata. Internationally, he staged the dance drama 'Hey Ananta Punya' in Bangladesh in 2008. More recently, in 2010, Nandi performed at the Khajuraho Dance Festival, Sananda Srimati, W.B.D.G.F. – Basanta Utsav, Lingraj Festival in Bhubaneswar, National Gallery of Modern Art in Mumbai, Mudra Dance Week Festival in Mumbai, and Manipuri Labanya. He is recognized as a disciple of exponent Bimbavati Devi and has presented works like "Gurave Namah" as a tribute to Guru Bipin Singh.
