Mridula Sivakumar is a highly accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer and a prime disciple of Dr. Smt. Sheela Unnikrishnan, under whose tutelage she began learning the art form at the tender age of three at Sridevi Nrithyalaya, Chennai. She completed her Arangetram on April 15, 2012, alongside her sister, Mrinalini Sivakumar. Mridula has since emerged as a passionate and sincere performer, showcasing a natural flair for the arts. She is a graded artiste of Doordarshan, India, and has performed extensively across various prestigious platforms and festivals throughout India, including the Indian Dance Festival at Mamallapuram, Natyanjali festival at Perur, and Vysakhi Nrithyothsav. Her career is marked by numerous accolades and achievements from a young age. She received the Ranjani Rajan Memorial award for the best dance artist in 2005-06 and has been a winner in popular television shows like Kids Kiladi (Chutti TV) and Thaka Dhimi Tha (Jaya TV). Mridula has consistently secured top prizes in national-level dance competitions organized by bodies such as Gopinath Vysa and Navya Nataka Academy. Notable awards include the Charles H. Best award for dance in 2011, the Best Dancer Award from Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha in 2015, and the Guru Dhandayudhapani Pillai Endowment Prize from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha in 2017. She was also honored as an Asthana Vidwan of Sri Chakra Maha Meeru Peetam, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Mridula Sivakumar is an active participant in Sridevi Nrithyalaya's major productions, including "Bala Ramayanam," "Shadaksharam," and "Sri Krishna Vaibhavam." Beyond performing, she has demonstrated her choreographic prowess by presenting a self-choreographed Margam featuring compositions of Guru K. N. Dandayudhapani Pillai as part of SDN's Kriya initiative in April 2025. She also performed solo excerpts at the HCL concert series under The Music Academy in March 2025. In addition to her dance pursuits, Mridula is also learning Carnatic music from Smt. Chithrambari Krishnakumar and is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Commerce while also studying for Chartered Accountancy. Her dedication to both her artistic and academic endeavors highlights her multifaceted talent and commitment.
