Namita Khanna Nariani is an Indian classical dance figure, specializing in Kathak and Bharatanatyam, who also experimented with other dance forms like tango and jazz under the guidance of her guru, Bhima Shankar. She developed a natural affinity for rhythm and music from a young age. After finding her guru, Bhima Shankar, at the age of eleven, she challenged him to diversify her learning beyond classical dance, leading to a broad exploration of dance styles. Nariani is the founder of Mudra Dance Studio, which she established in 1993. The studio began in a basement with three students and grew to over 100 students, becoming a non-profit organization in 2001. Based in Aurora, Colorado, USA, Mudra Dance Studio aims to celebrate East Indian cultural diversity through dance and music, teaching Kathak with folk and modern elements. Namita Khanna Nariani is recognized as a brilliant and well-respected dancer and choreographer in her community, known for her ability to visualize and implement choreography that harmonizes music and movement. Her daughter, Aisha Narani, serves as the program director and a head guru at the studio.
