Natasha Bakht is a distinguished Indian contemporary dancer and choreographer, with a strong foundation in Bharatanatyam. She trained extensively for over two decades under Menaka Thakkar in Toronto, touring internationally with the Menaka Thakkar Dance Company, performing classical repertoire across North America, Europe, and Asia. Bakht further honed her skills with the renowned Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company in London, England, for three seasons, and collaborated with prominent Canadian contemporary choreographers such as Joan Phillips, Roger Sinha, Robert Desrosiers, Yvonne Coutts, Peggy Baker, Laurie Booth, and Wayne McGregor's Random Dance Company. Her own choreographic works include four solos: "Dance If You Must," "Appropriating Edges," "Obiter Dictum," and "White Space," as well as a group piece titled "Riaz" for the Menaka Thakkar Dance Company. Her solo "Obiter Dictum" earned her a nomination for a Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Choreography in 2003. Beyond her dance career, Natasha Bakht is also a Full Professor of Law at the University of Ottawa. Awards & Honours: Dora Mavor Moore Award Nomination for Outstanding New Choreography (2003), K.M.
