Nitin P. Shirale is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, recognized for his expertise in both Kathak and Odissi dance forms. He received extensive initial training in Kathak and Odissi for 12 years under the eminent exponent Guru Parwati Datta, following the traditional Guru-Shishya system. Furthering his mastery, he studied the nuances of dance and abhinaya under Padma Vibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj for Kathak and Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra for Odissi. Shirale also holds a Graduate degree in Environmental Science and a Post Graduate in Business Management from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. He earned an M.A. in Dance from Lalit Kala Kendra, Pune University, under the guidance of Smt. Shama Bhate. He has also passed the National Eligibility Test for lectureship conducted by the University Grant Commission (U.G.C) India. Throughout his career, Nitin P. Shirale has performed at numerous prestigious dance and music festivals both in India and internationally, including Sangeet Nritya Mahotsav, Nritya Pratibha, Kathak Utsav, Nalanda Nrityotsav 2010, Arudhra Natyanjali dance festival 2012, and international festivals in Dubai, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Germany, Italy, and Brazil. He has directed dance dramas such as 'Parikrama', 'Vaham Rakshami', 'Amal Ushir', and a solo thematic presentation 'Shree Radha'. He has also composed and choreographed 'Taalvaadya Kacheri - Chandaangan' and 'Rhythm Spectrum' (Kathak and Chinese Drumming) for the High Commission of India in Malaysia. Shirale has been a recipient of several honors, including a scholarship for young talented artists and a Junior Research Fellowship in Kathak dance from the Department of Culture, Government of India. He also received the 'Shilpa-Nritya-Tatva in Jainism Fellowship' by the Jain community Bangalore. His awards include Maharashtra Yuva Puraskar 2006, Shringarmani 2009, Rangkarmi Puraskar 2010, Naatyakumara Puraskar 2013, Kala Vaibhav Puraskar 2014, Girnar Ratna Puraskar 2014, Naad Yogi Samman 2017, Kala Aarpan Puraskar 2017, and Nritya Shiromani 2018. He has served as a Kathak dance teacher and performer at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for three years, deputed by ICCR, India. He conducts dance workshops across India and has delivered special series on art appreciation. Nitin P. Shirale has also served as a jury member for national and international dance and theatre competitions. He has been featured in a national documentary film by Delhi Doordarshan and an international documentary by Channel 4 and Anna Pictures, Hyderabad. He was also the first Indian dancer interviewed on Astro Channel in Malaysia and Singapore.
