Nupur Paul is an accomplished Kathak dancer, choreographer, and teacher, serving as the founder and artistic director of Nritya Manjira School of Dance. Established in 2008, her school is affiliated with Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad, and offers Kathak instruction to children and adults in the Cincinnati / Dayton Area of the United States. Paul began her Kathak training at an early age, studying under various gurus. She holds a Masters Degree from Vidyasagar University, West Bengal, and a Sangit Prabhakar in Kathak from Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad, India. Her initial training in the Lucknow gharana style was under Guru Sri Pradipta Neogi and Guru Srijan Kumar. She continued her studies with Guru Sujit Bandopadhaya, a foremost disciple of Nrityacharya Pt. Prahlad Das. Paul specialized under NrityaBaridhi Guru Bela Arnab, an eminent Kathak exponent and senior disciple of Guru Pt. Shambhu Maharaj ji of the Lucknow gharana. She further advanced her learning with Guru Kiran Chouhan, a senior disciple of Pt. Birju Maharaj ji. Nupur Paul has also participated in workshops conducted by notable Kathak figures such as Guru Birju Maharaj ji, Vidushi Saswati Sen, Guru Nalini and Guru Kamalini Asthana, Guru Smt. Durga Arya, and Guru Aditi Mangaldas. Her career includes numerous solo and group performances in both India and the United States. Beyond classical Kathak, she has choreographed and performed various Tagore dance dramas and other dance forms. Paul is dedicated to teaching Kathak, sharing this North Indian classical dance form with her students.
