Ojha Maibam Ibungohal Singh, born in 1900 in Imphal, Manipur, was a highly renowned and respected Indian classical dance figure, primarily recognized for his contributions to Manipuri dance. He was particularly known as a Sankirtan artiste. Ibungohal Singh received his training from eminent masters including Oja Chaoba, Kshetri Achou, and Yengkhom Mangol. For over five decades, he was associated with the Shri Govindaji temple at the Palace in Imphal as a Sankirtana performer. His eminence in the field of dance and his significant contributions to its enrichment were widely acknowledged. He received national recognition with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Manipuri in 1976. Additionally, he was honored with titles and accolades from various esteemed organizations, including the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad and the Manipur State Kala Akademi.
