Smt. Padmalakshmi Sriram is a professional Bharatanatyam classical dancer, choreographer, and teacher, originally from South India and currently based in Brisbane, Australia. Her journey in Bharatanatyam began at the age of seven, culminating in her Arangetram under the tutelage of Guru Smt. Anuradha in Kanchipuram. In 2006, she further refined her expertise under the guidance of Kalaimamani Dr. Ambika Kameshwar, Director of RASA. Padmalakshmi Sriram has a rich performance history, having graced various festivals and organizations across India. Her achievements include performing in a devotional video dance album and choreographing a Tamil short film with her disciples. Notably, she was among 1000 dancers recognized by the Guinness Book of Records for a performance marking the 1000th-year anniversary of the Brihadeeshwarar temple in Thanjavur. She has also performed at numerous prestigious dance sabhas throughout India. Since relocating to Brisbane in July 2013, Padmalakshmi Sriram has become a prominent figure in the local cultural scene, performing at significant venues such as the Queensland Multicultural Center, Brisbane City Hall, and Selva Vinayagar Temple. With over 15 years of experience in supervising and running a dance school, she officially founded Lalitha Kalalaya Dance School in 2009. The academy provides extensive training in Bharatanatyam and operates from three locations in Brisbane and also in Canberra, Australia. She is dedicated to imparting traditional and cultural values through dance, and her teaching methodology focuses on achieving perfection in every movement. She also choreographs classical, semi-classical, and folk dances for various cultural programs.
