Padmini Krishnamurthy is an accomplished Indian classical dancer and guru, primarily known for her expertise in Bharatanatyam. She began her dance training at the age of four under the tutelage of Ranganayaki Jayaraman at Sri Saraswati Gana Nilayam in Chennai, one of the oldest dance schools in the city. She had her arangetram (debut performance) at the age of ten and started teaching other students at the dance school when she was thirteen. Krishnamurthy continued to teach until 1995, when she moved to Muscat after her marriage. In 1997, she founded her own dance institution, Sri Saraswati Natyalaya, in Muscat, Oman. She has since trained approximately 250 students, with 21 of them having completed their arangetram. Padmini Krishnamurthy regularly performs in both Muscat and Chennai, and is also exploring the intricacies of talam under the guidance of Ram Mohan. Her choreographic skills have been highlighted in performances, often featuring her daughter and disciple, Shivani.
