Guru Smt. Padmini Radhakrishnan is a distinguished figure in Indian classical dance, renowned for her contributions to Bharatanatyam as a performer, teacher, choreographer, and institution head. She is the Founder-Director of Soundarya Natya Kalalaya Foundation in Mumbai, an institution dedicated to imparting Bharatanatyam in its purest form. Padmini Radhakrishnan is an accomplished dancer herself, having performed over 200 stage shows and for Doordarshan. Her training stems from the lineage of Padmashri Guru Late K.N Dandayudapani Pillai, and she is a distinguished disciple of Guru Smt. Rajalakshmi Venkateshwar. Beyond her prowess in Bharatanatyam, Guru Padmini Radhakrishnan is a multi-faceted artist. She is a proficient Carnatic singer, holding a diploma in Carnatic Music from the University of Mumbai. This musical expertise extends to her ability to perform nattuvangam – the verbal incantations of rhythmic patterns – for her students' performances. She has successfully led Soundarya Natya Kalalaya Foundation for over 40 years, with its influence reaching beyond Mumbai to various branches, including those in the United States. Her dedication to the art form has seen her students achieve over 400 performances across India, Malaysia, the Middle East, and the USA.
