Pagulu Jena is a veteran guru of Mayurbhanj Chhau, an Indian classical dance form. He has dedicated over four decades of his life to the traditional martial dance, developing a passion for it at an early age. Residing in Jamunadeipur, Baripada town, Jena has significantly contributed to the preservation and promotion of Mayurbhanj Chhau. His distinguished career includes extensive performances across India and in five foreign countries, where he has earned acclaim for his artistic excellence. Beyond his achievements as a performer, Jena is recognized for his pivotal role in mentoring young artists. He serves as a guru to several rural Chhau troupes and has choreographed numerous innovative productions, tirelessly working to uphold the indigenous art form. Since its inception in 2016, Pagulu Jena has been associated with Project Chhauni, where he currently holds the positions of chief guru and centre head. He also conducts workshops, such as a four-day workshop on Mayurbhanj Chhau in August 2026 at the Uday Shankar Hall, Rabindra Bharati University, Jorasanko, organized by Sapphire Creations Dance Company.
