Pandit Rajendra Gangani is a celebrated Kathak virtuoso and one of the foremost exponents of the Jaipur Gharana, renowned for his innovative style and technical brilliance. Born into a lineage of distinguished Kathak dancers, he began his training at the tender age of four under the tutelage of his father, the legendary Pt. Kundan Lal Gangani. He graduated from the Kathak Kendra, Delhi, in 1983-84, and has since made significant contributions to the field of Kathak. Pandit Gangani is a master performer, choreographer, composer, and musician, proficient in playing the tabla, harmonium, and pakhawaj, which enriches his dance compositions with rare musicality. He has choreographed numerous acclaimed group compositions and dance dramas, including "Leele-Varnan," "Maharaas," "Raag Vistaar," and "Tribandhi." His unique style seamlessly integrates the purity of classical dance with contemporary choreography, earning him critical acclaim globally. He has captivated audiences and conducted workshops extensively across India, Asia, Europe, America, and Africa. Currently, Pandit Rajendra Gangani is associated with Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, one of India's premier dance institutes. In February 2024, he set a Guinness World Record by choreographing 1,484 dancers at Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for which he received the Best Choreographer's Award. He continues to inspire generations as a dedicated Guru, preserving and advancing the rich heritage of Kathak.
