Paramita Bhattacharyya is an internationally acclaimed Indian Kathak dance exponent, performer, teacher, and choreographer with over 30 years of experience in the art form. Her interest in dance began at a young age, leading her to train under several distinguished Kathak gurus in India, including Pandit Shantiranjan Maitra, Pandit Brojen Mukherjee, Pandit Ashimbandhu Bhattacharya, and the legendary Padmavibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj, as well as his senior disciple Smt. Sushri Saswati Sen. She holds academic degrees in Kathak dance, including “Sangeet Prabhakar,” “Senior Diploma,” and “Junior Diploma,” awarded by the Prayag Sangeet Samiti in Allahabad, India. Based in Los Angeles, USA, Paramita Bhattacharyya actively promotes Indian classical dance globally through performances, workshops, and teaching. She is a dance educator at the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) in the USA and a member of the International Dance Council (CID) of UNESCO. Her work, which often involves storytelling and socially relevant narratives, has been recognized by various leading newspapers in India and abroad, including The Times of India, Voyage LA, LA Dance Chronicle, and Bold Journey Magazine. She has served as a judge in dance and music competitions and as a jury member for the NDEO award committee. Bhattacharyya plans to establish her own Kathak academy in Los Angeles to continue passing on her expertise to students.
