Dr. Parimal Phadke is a distinguished Bharatanatyam exponent, dancer, choreographer, writer, researcher, and educator based in Pune, India. He holds a Masters in Bharatanatyam, having received training from eminent gurus including Dr. Sucheta Chapekar, Guru Rema Srikant, Guru Vasanti Subramanium, and Guru Dr. Jayashree Rajagopalan. His training under Dr. Sucheta Chapekar specifically focused on the Tanjavur style of Bharatanatyam. Dr. Phadke is recognized for his comprehensive approach to dance, integrating traditional, authentic, and innovative methodologies. As a solo dancer, he demonstrates expertise in Bharatanatyam and also explores Contemporary dance and dance theatre, guided by his belief that “content inspires form.” Beyond his performance career, Dr. Phadke is an accomplished author with two published books on specialized dance topics. He is also an experienced anchor for various international, national, and corporate events. Academically, he holds a doctorate in Dance, with his research centered on the concept of “Nayaka” to broaden the scope for male dancers within the Bharatanatyam repertoire. His research papers have been acknowledged at international conferences, reflecting his consistent pursuit of scholarly work. Since 2010, he has served as an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Performing Arts, SPPU (formerly University of Pune). Dr. Phadke founded the “Parimal Performing Arts And Research Centre” (PPARF/PPARC), which stands as a premier Bharatanatyam institution. Through his teaching at both PPARC and SPPU, he advocates for a balanced curriculum of theory and practice, preparing his students for Bharatanatyam examinations. His students have achieved notable success, winning National and International Dance Competitions and securing National level scholarships, thereby establishing themselves as accomplished soloists and choreographers.
