Pasumarti Subrahmanya Sastry, born in 1915, was a significant figure in the Indian classical dance form of Kuchipudi. His initial training in dance was under the tutelage of his grandfather, Mahankali Chalapati. Sastry further specialized in the intricate portrayal of female roles, receiving advanced training from several esteemed gurus. These included Yeleswarapu Satyanarayana, Musti Chidambara deekshtulu, Chinta Krishna murthy, and Srirama Murthy. His dedication to mastering feminine characters was a distinctive aspect of his artistry. Pasumarti Subrahmanya Sastry contributed to the propagation of Kuchipudi by serving as a teacher at the Shri Siddhendra Kalakshetram, located in the village of Kuchipudi. This institution is recognized as a premier center for imparting traditional training in the Kuchipudi dance form.
