Pavani Sreelatha Prasad is a prominent Indian classical dancer and guru specializing in Kuchipudi. Her journey in dance began at the tender age of four when she joined the Kuchipudi Dance School of Smt. Padmanjali in Adoni, Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh. She received early guidance from esteemed gurus including Dr. Nataraja Ramakrishna, Shri Uday Kanth, and Smt. Renuka. Sreelatha commenced her stage performances at the age of six and dedicated approximately 15 years to the rigorous practice of Kuchipudi. Following her initial training, Sreelatha served for about ten years at the Indian Bank. However, driven by a profound desire to deepen her theoretical and academic understanding of Kuchipudi, she resigned from her banking profession in 2005 and relocated to Hyderabad. There, she had the invaluable opportunity to become a disciple of Dr. Sri Bhagavatula Sethuram, a retired Professor of Kuchipudi Dance from Sri Potti Sreeramulu University. Academically accomplished, Pavani Sreelatha holds a Master's degree and a Certificate in Kuchipudi Dance from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, as well as a Master's in English from SV University in Tirupati. She is also recognized as a B Grade Artist for Doordarshan. She was honored with the title "Natya Kalanidhi" by the Veda Center in Madurai. Sreelatha has showcased her choreographic talents through several ballets and solo performances, notably "Krishnavenee Vaibhavam," a ballet presented during the Krishna Pushkarams in 2016, which depicted the sacred river Krishna. She has also contributed to the academic discourse of dance by publishing books and papers, including "Natya Raameneeeyakam," which was selected by UGC and published by Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. Currently, Pavani Sreelatha is pursuing a Ph.D. in Kuchipudi Dance from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. She is the founder and director of Abhinaya Kuchipudi Kalakshetram in Hyderabad, an institution dedicated to promoting and preserving the traditional form of Kuchipudi dance. Through her academy, she aims to impart both theoretical knowledge and practical training in Kuchipudi, making the art form accessible to interested students. Awards & Honours: Natya Kalanidhi.
