Perini Ravi Teja is a highly proficient and renowned Indian classical dancer and choreographer, specializing in Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Andhra Natyam, and Perini Shivatandavam. With a career spanning over three decades, he has delivered more than 1500 performances across India and internationally, including in Dubai, Sharjah, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Mauritius. His innate talent for dance was recognized by his mother, Smt. Subramanya Eswari, when he was just three years old, leading him to begin his formal training at a tender age. He received extensive training from eminent Natyacharya Sri Bhagavatula Yagna Narayana Sarma in Vijayawada, under whom he honed his skills in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam for over 20 years. At the age of four, he made his debut performance at the revered Kanaka Durga Devi Temple in Vijayawada. In 1999, Ravi Teja moved to Hyderabad to further his artistic journey under the tutelage of Gurudeva Dr. Nataraja Ramakrishna, a pivotal figure in the revival of Perini Shivatandavam and Andhra Natyam. It was Dr. Nataraja Ramakrishna who bestowed upon him the name "Perini Ravi Teja," replacing his original name, Ravi Kumar, and solidifying his association with the Perini dance form. Perini Ravi Teja is dedicated to preserving and propagating these traditional dance forms. He founded and currently directs two dance institutions: Nrutyalay in Hyderabad and Nataraja Dance Academy in Suryapet, Nalgonda District, where he imparts training to the next generation of dancers. His performances are noted for their deep understanding of Bhava (emotion) and Abhinaya (expression), captivating audiences with his sense of rhythm and mastery of various classical styles.
