Prajakta Sathe is a distinguished Kathak exponent, choreographer, and educator based in India, primarily associated with Mumbai and Pune. Her extensive training in Kathak began at the age of five, under the guidance of Guru Late Ashatai Joglekar, followed by tutelage from Guru Sonia Parchure, and advanced training in taal and laykari from Guru Bholaprasad Singhji. She further honed her artistry as a senior disciple of Kathak legend Guru Rohini Bhate from 1996 to 2008 at Nrityabharati Kathak Dance Academy, and also trained for 14 years under Guru Roshan Datye. Currently, she receives guidance from Dr. Arawind Thatte for the nuances of 'Taal' and 'Laya'. Academically, Prajakta Sathe holds a Master's Degree in Kathak from Lalit Kala Kendra, Pune University, where she currently serves as a Guru and Examiner. She also possesses a Master's Degree in French Language from Pune University, and has lectured in French. Demonstrating a multidisciplinary approach, she has also earned a Master's in Expressive Movement Therapy, and holds a BSc in Biotechnology and an MSc in Cytogenetics. An empanelled artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Prajakta Sathe is the Founder-Director of Aarohini Art Welfare Organisation and Rochit Kathak Academy, a branch of Nrityabharati established in 1980. She is also the Co-Director at Nrityabharati and leads her own institute, Shubhangi Nritya Kalamandir in Mumbai. She has been actively teaching Kathak since 1992, imparting the rich heritage of the dance form to future generations.
