Prerna Desai, also known as Prerana Tai, is a distinguished figure in Indian classical dance, specializing in Bharatanatyam. She commenced her dance journey under the tutelage of Guru Anjaliben Meher and earned a degree in Bharatanatyam from MS University Baroda. In 1969, Prerna Desai established Aradhana Gurukul in Pune, which subsequently became a significant center for Bharatanatyam in the city. She is recognized for her unwavering adherence to the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam. Desai's choreographic prowess is evident in her notable creations, including "Shri Jayadeva's Dashavatara," which features ten intricately carved jathis, as well as "RamaKrishna Sankeertanam" and "Daasi Pushpanjali." Her command over Nattuvangam is considered unparalleled, and she has lovingly nurtured numerous students throughout her career. Prerna Desai is also a recipient of the prestigious Shringarmani puraskar from the Sur Singar Samsad. She is recognized as a performer and teacher of Bharatanatyam.
