Priya Nambudiri is an accomplished Kathakali artist whose profound connection to the art form originates from her familial roots in Sreekrishnapuram, Palakkad, Kerala. Despite being raised in Mumbai without formal training in the Malayalam language, her unwavering passion led her to pursue Kathakali diligently. She commenced her rigorous training at a young age under the esteemed Kalashree Kalamandalam Gopalakrishnan Assan in Mumbai, further refining her skills at Kalakshethram, Dombivili. Her Arangettam, or debut performance, took place at the revered Guruvayur temple. Throughout her career, Priya Nambudiri has demonstrated exceptional versatility by mastering a diverse range of mainstream Kathakali Vesham characters, including Pacha, Kathi, Minukku, Kari, Thadi, and Vellathadi. She is recognized as a graded artist of Mumbai Doordarshan and has performed extensively across various stages in both Kerala and Mumbai. Her talent and dedication have been acknowledged with numerous accolades, including the Silver Conch of Appreciation at the Keli Kathakali & Koodiyatram Festival in 2022. She has also secured first and second prizes at the K K Raja Memorial Cholliyaattam Competitions held in Tripunithura. In recent years, Priya Nambudiri relocated from Mumbai to Bangalore, where she continues to actively perform Kathakali and is dedicated to imparting her knowledge and skills to aspiring art students. Her contributions are vital in preserving and promoting this traditional Indian classical dance form. She regularly showcases her proficiency on various stages throughout Kerala.
