Pt. Umesh Hasal is an accomplished Indian classical dancer and musician, representing the 8th generation of the esteemed Jaipur Gharana of Kathak. He is the son of the renowned Kathak maestro Guru Ganesh Hiralal Hasal and the brother of Dr. Vinod Hasal, both prominent figures in the Kathak tradition. Pt. Umesh Hasal received rigorous training and guidance from his father, Acharya Ganesh Hiralal Hasal, inheriting a rich legacy of classical dance and music. As a prominent classical dancer and musician, Pt. Umesh Hasal has contributed significantly to the propagation of Kathak. He is also a professional tabla player, frequently accompanying his father and brother in various performances. His artistry has been showcased on national and international stages. A notable international appearance includes his tabla performance in Cairo in 2015, where he accompanied renowned Kathak dancer Prachee Shah, alongside his father, Guru Ganesh Hiralal Hasal. The Hasal family is deeply associated with institutions such as the Mumbai Kathak Kendra Sangeet and Nritya Academy, and the Radha Krishna Educational and Charitable Trust in Mumbai, which are chaired by his father. Through his performances and musical contributions, Pt. Umesh Hasal continues to uphold and advance the traditions of the Jaipur Gharana.
