Ragini Maharaj is a distinguished Kathak dancer, born on September 23, 1996, in Delhi, India. She hails from the illustrious Kalka-Bindadin Gharana of Lucknow, a lineage deeply rooted in Indian classical dance. As the granddaughter of the legendary Kathak maestro Padma Vibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj, Ragini Maharaj began her rigorous training at the tender age of three. Her foundational education in Kathak was primarily under the tutelage of her grandfather, Pt. Birju Maharaj. She further honed her skills under the guidance of other esteemed family members, including her aunt Vidushi Mamta Maharaj, her uncle Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj, and her father Pt. Deepak Maharaj. Throughout her career, Ragini Maharaj has emerged as a captivating solo performer, gracing numerous prestigious stages both nationally and internationally. Her performances have been featured at prominent festivals such as the Saptak Festival, Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samaroh, Sawai Gandharv, Vasantotsava, and Sadhna Festival across India. Internationally, she has represented Indian classical dance at events like 'Parampara, the tradition' in San Francisco and Minnesota, the Tyagraj Tansen Festival in Malaysia, and various cultural events in Japan and South Korea. She has also performed in celebrated dance dramas choreographed by her grandfather, including "Kho-Kho," "Editing," "Meera Hari Rang Rachi," "Krishnayan," and "Chhand Leela." Beyond her performing career, Ragini Maharaj is also a dedicated Kathak teacher. She completed her schooling at The Banyan Tree School in New Delhi and holds an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Sri Venkateswara College, currently pursuing a Master's in Social Work from IGNOU.
