Rahul Acharya is an internationally renowned Odissi soloist, teacher, choreographer, researcher, and author, celebrated for his mastery over the technical aspects and profound emotional depth of the dance form. Born on December 7, 1982, he began his training in Odissi at the tender age of four under the tutelage of Guru Durga Charan Ranbir, a torch-bearer of the Guru Debaprasad Das style. He also received theoretical and literary training from Sanskrit scholar Pandit Nityananda Misra and studied Hatha and Raja Yoga at the Satyananda Yoga Vidyalaya, Bihar School of Yoga. Acharya holds a Master of Sciences in Biotechnology, demonstrating a blend of traditional Indian culture and modern science. He hails from a family of Raj Gurus of Lord Jagannatha in Puri, which deeply influences his artistic and research pursuits in Jagannath Culture. Rahul Acharya is recognized as the first male Odissi dancer to receive the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi. He has performed extensively across India and internationally, participating in numerous prestigious festivals and conducting workshops and lecture demonstrations at premier institutions worldwide. He is a founding member of the Jagannatha Vallabha Vedic Research Center in Puri and has authored articles for various dance journals and websites, including narthaki.com and the Sacred Dance Guild Journal, USA. He co-authored a book on Jagannatha Puri in 2009 and is currently working on a definitive volume about Odissi dance. Acharya founded 'Nrutyayan' in Bhubaneswar, where he imparts training to students in Odissi.
