Dr. Rajkumar Ketkar is a renowned Indian classical Kathak dancer and teacher, born in 1948. He dedicated 60 years of his life to the art form, beginning his journey at the age of fifteen after being captivated by a performance by Pandit Gopi Krishna Maharaj Ji at Bedekar Mahavidyalaya. Dr. Ketkar is recognized as one of the senior-most Gandabandha disciples of Pandit Natraj Gopi Krishna Ji, an exponent of the Benares Gharana, from whom he learned the Benares style of Kathak. He furthered his training under Pandit Mohanrao Kallianpurkar Ji of the Jaipur Gharana, who taught at the National Centre for Performing Arts. Additionally, he had the opportunity to learn Thumri from Pandit Lachhu Maharaj Ji of the Lucknow Gharana, thereby excelling in elements of all three major Kathak gharanas. Dr. Ketkar is a famous Kathak dance teacher based in Thane, India. In January 2020, at the age of 71, he attained Sainthood, a spiritual recognition, for his intense dedication to art as a spiritual practice. Awards & Honours: Sainthood (2020).
