Rajeswari Sainath is a renowned Indian Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, and teacher based in Hyderabad, India. Born in Hyderabad, she began her Bharatanatyam training at the age of seven under Guru Vazhuvoor K.R. Radhakrishnan, later continuing her studies with V.S. Ramamoorthy, Guru Indira Rajan, and Pandanallur Srinivasa Pillai. She was further mentored in rhythmic intricacies (layam) by the late mridangam maestro Karaikudi Mani, which significantly influenced her choreography. With a career spanning over five decades in performing arts and 35 years in teaching, Rajeswari Sainath is celebrated for her traditional Bharatanatyam recitals, adhering to the margam format. She has choreographed and performed numerous Bharatanatyam ballets, including "Sri Lalitha Vaibhavam," "Rajsimha," and "Ode to the River," often incorporating complex rhythmic patterns and thematic narratives. Her performances have taken her to prestigious international venues, including a solo Bharatanatyam performance at the Sydney Opera House. Beyond performing, Sainath is dedicated to teaching, emphasizing both technique and expression. She is the director of 'Sruthi Laya Kendra Natarajaalaya,' an institute founded by Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani, through which she has trained thousands of students. She holds a Ph.D. that combines the mathematical aspects of dance (layam) with management, reflecting her scholarly approach to the art form.
