Pandit Ram Mohan Maharaj is a distinguished Kathak maestro, belonging to the seventh generation of the illustrious Kalka-Bindadin Gharana of Kathak. He is the son of the legendary Padma Shri Pt. Sambhu Maharaj, under whom he began his Kathak training at the age of six, learning the proper style and abhinaya. Following his father's passing, he continued his rigorous training under his elder brother and renowned Kathak exponent, Pt. Birju Maharaj. Ram Mohan Maharaj is considered a flagbearer of the Lucknow Gharana, carrying forward its rich tradition. He has performed as a soloist in prestigious programs and cultural festivals across major states of India, including the Khajuraho Festival, Sarat Chandrika Mahotsav, Lucknow Mahotsav, Bhatkhande Jayanti, Guwalior Mahotsav, and Kalidas Mahotsav. Beyond performing, he is also a successful choreographer, having choreographed numerous ballets both in India and abroad. He is also skilled as a Tabla and Pakahawaj player and has sung in various recordings. He was associated with Sri Ram Bharatiya Kala Kendra as a senior guru for many years and served as the director in the Sangeet Natak Academy in Lucknow. He conducts workshops in various cities across India, including Kolkata, Agartala, Ahmedabad, Nasik, Bhopal, Ujjain, and Lucknow. In 2023, he announced his intention to hold Kathak classes at his ancestral home, Kalka Bindadin Maharaj Ki Deorhi in Lucknow, to honor the wishes of his late brother, Pt. Birju Maharaj. He recently co-organized the "Harshotsav" dance and music festival in Mumbai.
