Guru Ramesh Kubernath Tanjorkar is the son and disciple of the legendary Bharatanatyam Guru Kubernath Tanjorkar. Born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, in 1943, and raised in Vadodara, Gujarat, Ramesh Kubernath Tanjorkar inherited the complete art of Bharatanatyam from his father, becoming his first disciple to gain comprehensive knowledge of this classical dance form. Although he initially pursued studies in Chartered Accountancy, he ultimately dedicated his life to the propagation of Bharatanatyam, following in his father's footsteps. He is recognized for his commitment to preserving the classical and pure Gurukul form of Bharatanatyam. He plays a pivotal role in continuing the legacy of the Tanjore Nritya Shala and the Tanjore Dance Music & Art Research Centre, institutions co-founded by his father, Gurushri Kubernath Tanjorkar, in 1981 after his retirement from M.S. University. These institutions, based in Vadodara, Gujarat, are dedicated to training students in the pure classical Tanjore Nritya Shailee, adhering strictly to the traditional rules of Bharatanatyam. Guru Ramesh Kubernath Tanjorkar, along with his wife Guru Smt. Leela Ramesh Tanjorkar, actively guides and manages these centers, which have expanded to include branches in Vadodara, Vapi, and Silvassa. His sons, Rajesh R Tanjorkar and Ashish R Tanjorkar, and their wives, Shivshankari and Priya, are also deeply involved in the family's mission to spread the Tanjore style of Bharatanatyam both nationally and internationally. The institutions under his guidance offer comprehensive training, from basic steps to advanced choreography and abhinaya, and provide certification through various recognized bodies.
