🪔 About
Ranjit Acharya is a prominent figure in Seraikella Chhau, an Indian classical dance form, and is part of the fifth generation of a family deeply rooted in this tradition. He is the son of the late Guru Lingaraj Acharya, who founded the Acharya Chhau Nrutya Bichitra institution in Seraikella, Jharkhand. Ranjit Acharya serves as the Joint Director of this leading institute, which is dedicated to the promotion and training of Seraikella Chhau. He is also the brother of Padma Shri Guru Shashadhar Acharya and Sapan Acharya, both recognized exponents of Chhau dance. Ranjit Acharya is an active performer, having participated in significant cultural events. In March 2022, he led a team of specially trained artists from Acharya Chhau Nritya Bichitra to perform "Mahanayak Garuda" at the Indian Cultural Heritage Festival in New Delhi. During the same month, he was involved in Seraikella Chhau presentations at the Swadhara event by the Somnath Temple Trust, the Basant Utsav organized by the Indian Revival Group, and the Unbound Bits of India Festival, all held in New Delhi. He has also been listed as a performer, specifically playing the Nagada, for Seraikella Chhau presentations by his institution, such as at the NCPA Lok Gatha.
