Rashmi Khanna is a prominent Indian classical dancer, guru, choreographer, and special educator, recognized for her contributions to Bharatanatyam. She commenced her Bharatanatyam training at the age of seven in the Dandayudapanipillai style under Guru Smt. Kalyani Shekar. Khanna is the Director and founding member of Kalyani Kala Mandir (KKM), an institution she established in 2002 in South Delhi with the aim of preserving and promoting traditional and classical Indian dance forms. Her dance repertoire extends beyond Bharatanatyam to include Kathak, Folk Dance, Modern Indian Ballet, Chhaau, Odissi, Salsa, Jazz, and Tap Dancing. She has also pursued Carnatic music under Guru Smt. Vijaylaxmi Krishnan and Guru Shri G. Elangovan, and advanced Nattuvangam under Shri Hemanth Lakshman. As a graded Doordarshan artiste, Rashmi Khanna has performed extensively across India and represented the country at various international platforms. She holds a Master's Degree in Performing Arts and is currently pursuing a PhD in dance from the World University of Design, focusing on dance, architecture, and iconography. Khanna is also a dedicated special educator, specializing in multiple disabilities, and has worked with children with special needs at institutions such as the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute and Sanskriti School, in addition to volunteering at organizations like the SAHAN Institute and the National Association for the Blind. Her choreographic works often integrate classical, folk, and modern dance elements, and she is known for presenting neo-classical dance dramas and contemporary choreographies inspired by female-oriented themes and renowned poets.
