Rashmi Shashi is a prominent Indian classical dance figure, serving as the Artistic Director of Studio Mudra School of Dance in Houston, Texas. She is a graduate of Bharatanatyam, having commenced her training at the age of six and completing her Arangetram at sixteen under the tutelage of Prof. M.R Krishnamurthy of Kalakshetra. Shashi began her journey of teaching Indian classical dance in 2002. She founded the Siri Nrithya School of Dance in South Florida in 2002, where she also pioneered the introduction of Bharatanatyam to the curriculum of Florida Atlantic University. After a decade in South Florida, she relocated to Houston in 2012 and established Studio Mudra School of Dance. Over her 23-year teaching career, she has trained more than 250 students, with over 25 having successfully graduated from her school. Her dedication to promoting Indian classical dance was recognized by the City of Sugar Land in 2022. Studio Mudra, under her direction, has performed in numerous dance festivals across the USA, India, and Europe, including a notable performance at Carnegie Hall in New York on July 2nd, 2023, as part of the 'All India Dance Festival'. Rashmi Shashi specializes in Bharatanatyam and teaches students across a wide age range, from 3 to over 50 years old, also incorporating folk and contemporary dance forms.
