Reshmi Chetram is an award-winning Indo-Canadian Indian classical Kathak dancer, educator, and choreographer. She commenced her Kathak training at the age of five under the guidance of her mother, Deviekha Chetram, who founded the Tarana Dance Centre in Toronto. From 2005 to 2012, Chetram pursued advanced mentorship in Kathak dance under the legendary Pandit Birju Maharaj at Kalashram in New Delhi, India. Her artistic journey is characterized by a deep integration of technical mastery, lived experience, and emotional depth, bridging classical traditions with contemporary practice. Chetram has performed and conducted workshops globally, including in Canada, the U.S., and India. She serves as the Creative Director and Choreographer of Tarana Dance Network, where she trains students across a wide age range. She also founded Reshmi Network, dedicated to providing dance classes and promoting Indian classical dance in North America. In 2007, Chetram founded her Indian Fitness program, BollyFit, which blends Bollywood dance with aerobics, and later established BollyFit International and the Dance For Life Foundation. In 2020, she founded Reysh Rituals, an initiative focused on holistic health through art, movement, and natural therapies. Her contributions to arts, culture, and wellness have been recognized with awards such as the Indo-Shastri Scholarship, Chalmers Fellowship, and Desjardins Good Spark Award. Chetram is also a cultural producer, curating arts activations and national dance conferences. She is committed to preserving traditions while inspiring innovation in South Asian, Indo-Caribbean, and contemporary dance forms.
