Revathi Satyu is a distinguished figure in Indian classical dance, recognized as a pioneer in bringing the art of Bharatanatyam to Dallas, Texas. Her extensive training was under illustrious Gurus, including U.S. Krishna Rao and Chandrabhaga Devi, Pandanallur Muthiah Pillai, Tanjore K.P. Kittappa Pillai, and Mysore Venkatalakshamma. From 1965 to 1974, Revathi was a sought-after Bharatanatyam dancer and stage actress in India, performing for notable dignitaries such as Sri Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, Maharaja of Mysore; Prime Minister Indira Gandhi; and President V. V. Giri. In 1972, the Government of India selected her to represent her State at the Expo World Fair in Montreal, Canada. In 1980, Revathi Satyu established the Arathi School of Dance in Dallas and San Antonio, Texas, and has since graduated over 100 students. She has served as the choreographer and Artistic Director for numerous dance dramas, often raising funds for charitable causes. Beyond her academy, she is the President of the Indian Cultural Heritage Foundation (which she co-founded with Suma Kulkarni), and a Director for the Dance Council of North Texas. Her contributions to classical dance have been recognized with several awards, including 'Singar Mani,' 'Karnataka Kalashri,' 'Bharata Kala Rathna,' 'Sangita Sambrahma,' and the Mary McLarry Lifetime Achievement Award from the Dance Council of North Texas. In 2019, she was honored with the prestigious title of "Nritya Darshini" by Kalaimamani Smt. Priyadarsini Govind and 'Natya Chinthamani' by the Saptami Foundation.
