🪔 About

Rithika Nair is an emerging Indian classical dancer and junior teacher based in the UK, specializing in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam, and also trained in Carnatic Music. She commenced her Bharatanatyam training at the age of five in 2012, under the tutelage of Shalini Shivashankar at the Upahaar School of Dance's Sutton branch. Simultaneously, she began her training in Carnatic Music under the guidance of Swapna Srikanth. In 2020, Rithika expanded her classical dance repertoire by beginning her Mohiniyattam training with Daniella Zak Varghese, and currently continues her studies in this form with Shalini Shivashankar. Rithika has performed at various venues across the UK, including the Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan, Fairfield Halls, and Skanda Vale temple, as a member of Upahaar's Ensemble group. In 2023, her talent was recognized when she was selected as the senior winner of ISTD's Bursary Awards and secured second place at the Croydon Performing Arts Festival. She marked a significant milestone in her dance journey by completing her Bharatanatyam Arangetram in March 2024. Following her Arangetram, Rithika joined the faculty team at Upahaar School of Dance as a junior Bharatanatyam teacher at their Sutton branch.
