Roopchanda Sarma is an accomplished Indian classical Odissi dancer, teacher, and the founder of Adyasha Foundation. Hailing from Guwahati, Assam, she received extensive training in Odissi. She initially trained for 20 years under Guru Niranjan Rout, focusing on the Guru Debaprasad Das style. Subsequently, she underwent 14 years of training under Guru BichitraNanda Swain, specializing in the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra style. Sarma is also a disciple of Guru Anjanamoyee Saikia at Darpan Dance Academy in Guwahati. She is recognized as an Empaneled Artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and a Graded Artist of Doordarshan. Roopchanda Sarma was also a recipient of the National Junior Scholarship for ten years. As a performer, she has staged significant Odissi compositions, including Dashavatar and Surya Stuti, often alongside her senior disciples. She is the Founder and Creative Director of Adyasha Foundation, an Odissi institution based in Bengaluru, dedicated to imparting pure Odissi dance training and organizing classical dance festivals twice a year. Through her mentorship, she has guided numerous students who have gone on to receive National Scholarships and pursue careers as soloists in Odissi dance.
