Ruth Rhiannon, also known as Ruth Rhiannon Nelson-Moore, is an American Odissi dancer and teacher, specializing in the Mahari lineage. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance with a focus on Odissi Temple Dance from The Evergreen State College in 2006, where she studied under her guru, Dr. Ratna Roy. Rhiannon has been a dedicated student of Dr. Roy for over a decade, continuing her training in Washington State and also studying in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. She joined the Urvasi Dance Ensemble in 2005 and is a current senior dancer with the company. Rhiannon is committed to preserving the Mahari lineage, which connects back to the Devadasis of the Jagannatha Temple of Odisha, India. She is the Odissi Director for the Dakini Rose Odissi Ensemble and performs and teaches ongoing Odissi Temple Dance classes and workshops at the Dakini Rose Gardens near Ashland, Oregon, and along the West Coast. In addition to her dance career, Ruth Rhiannon is a Certified Yoga Instructor, Certified Dancing Freedom Facilitator, Active Ceremonial Priestess, and a founding member and Keeper of the Altars at the Goddess Temple of Ashland. She also serves as a choreographer and visionary priestess for various ritual theater productions, including "Rebirth of the Devadasi."
