🪔 About

Sachikant Pradhan is an accomplished Indian classical Odissi dancer, choreographer, and educator. He began his Odissi training at the age of five at Kala Vikash Kendra in Cuttack, where he studied for six years and achieved the highest degree in Odissi Dance, Nurtya Visharad, by the age of thirteen. He further pursued rigorous training through a Condensed Course. Pradhan had the privilege of learning Odissi from several esteemed gurus, including Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Guru Raghunath Dutta, Guru Ramani Ranjan Jena, and Guru Mayadhar Rout. He continued his training under Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra until 1984. In 1985, Sachikant Pradhan moved to the USA, where he became the first Odissi teacher and dancer in Maryland and North Carolina. He established his first dance school in Charlotte in 1987. After a period working in healthcare, he has returned to his passion for teaching Odissi. Currently, he is the Founder and Managing Director of Nrutyasudha Dance Academy, which he established on February 10, 2017, in Bhubaneswar, India. Pradhan is actively involved in performing and choreographing, having created pieces such as "କ୍ଷ ଚମ୍ପୁ" (Kshya Champu) and "Dasavatar" for his academy. He also serves as an examiner for Odissi Dance at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya. His father, Dhanurdhar Pradhan, has also contributed to Odissi by writing dance items that Sachikant has recorded.
