Sarayu Srinivasan is an American-Tamil artist whose artistic background includes training in Bharatanatyam dance. Born in New Jersey to parents from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, she developed an understanding of expression, storytelling, and Carnatic music, learning devotional songs and compositions from her grandparents during trips to India. While her primary public identity is as a soul/jazz musician, she incorporates elements of Indian culture, including Bharatanatyam, into her music videos. Her musical journey began with Western classical vocal lessons at the age of six. She has released singles such as "For You," "10pm is SD," and "Electric," and is currently working on her debut EP. She trains with soul vocal coach Ellisha McKinney, also known as Teapot.
