Shreyaa Karan is an emerging Odissi classical dancer, a disciple and daughter of Guru Dr. Bidisha Mohanty. She began her training in Odissi at the age of four under her mother's tutelage at Indraadhanush: Center for Excellence. Karan completed her Odissi Mancha Prabesh, a significant solo debut recital, in 2022. Following this, she earned her Odissi Visharad Final (Bachelor's Degree) in 2023. She is actively involved in the Odissi dance community, serving as a creative director and assistant instructor at Indraadhanush. Karan is also recognized as the first Odissi dancer and a member of Purdue Aharya, Purdue University's competitive Indian Classical Dance team. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, she contributes to the Odissi Alliance of North America (OANA) as part of its Next Gen committee, where she has also hosted open practice sessions alongside her guru. Beyond her dance pursuits, Shreyaa Karan has a strong interest in Computer Science (CS) and STEM fields, and is the founder of "Steminism," an international student-run organization dedicated to empowering young girls in STEM initiatives.
