Shrinidhi Uppangala is a distinguished Vidwath-certified Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and the visionary founder of Shri School of Dance, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. Her profound journey into the world of Bharatanatyam commenced at the tender age of four and a half, under the expert guidance of her esteemed guru, Vidushi Ambale Rajeshwari. Following this foundational training, she further honed and refined her artistic prowess and deep understanding of the classical dance form at the renowned Upadhye School of Dance. Uppangala is particularly recognized for her specializations in abhinaya, the intricate art of conveying emotions and narratives through facial expressions, and nattuvangam, the crucial rhythmic accompaniment and direction of a dance performance. Her advanced studies in the complex Indian Tala system and nattuvangam were undertaken under the mentorship of the esteemed Bridagama artist Dr. Guru Bharadwaaj, solidifying her expertise in these essential aspects of Bharatanatyam. As the guru and head of Shri School of Dance, Shrinidhi Uppangala imparts Bharatanatyam with a holistic and deeply traditional philosophy. She views the dance not merely as a sequence of movements but as a vibrant tapestry of living stories, intricate rhythms, and rich cultural heritage.
