Shruthy Ramamurthi is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, dedicated teacher, and experienced Yoga practitioner, whose profound engagement with Indian classical arts began at the age of four. With over two decades of experience in Indian classical dance, she has cultivated a deep technical mastery and a robust foundation in both Bharatanatyam and Yoga. She currently resides, teaches, and practices in Sydney, Australia. In 2019, Shruthy founded the “Margam Centre for Arts” in Sydney, where she serves as its artistic and creative director. The centre is committed to enriching and cultivating talent through systematic and holistic training, fostering appreciation for the rich culture and beauty of Bharatanatyam and Yoga. Her teaching methodologies are rooted in a traditional, holistic approach, ensuring that the art form is taught at a basic fundamental level, following a structured repertoire with a strong focus on technical detail. Shruthy's philosophy extends to blending traditional discipline with mindfulness, flexibility, and personalized guidance, thereby helping students develop confidence, artistic excellence, and overall well-being. She is also recognized as a dance choreographer. Under her direction, the Margam Centre for Arts organizes an annual student Bharatanatyam concert, with the “Ananya 2025” event held on November 15, 2025, featuring over 60 young dancers in a vibrant celebration of classical Indian artistry. Her contributions to Indian classical dance education in Sydney have been highlighted in media, including an article in The Indian Sun titled “Mārgam leads the way in Bharata Natyam excellence.”
