Shyama Sasidharan is an accomplished Indian classical dancer, performer, choreographer, and educator based in Melbourne, Australia. She holds a Master's degree in Performing Arts and has received training in various Indian Classical Dance styles, Indian Martial Arts, and Yoga. Sasidharan is the founder and head of Prakalpa Samskruti, a cultural studies center she established in Melbourne in 2015. The institution is dedicated to teaching Indian classical dance forms, specifically Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, and Mohiniyattam, alongside Yoga. Starting with a modest number of students, Prakalpa Samskruti has grown significantly, now training over 100 students in Melbourne. Shyama Sasidharan has played a crucial role in dance education in Australia, including introducing the grammar and language of Indian Classical dance to students at various educational institutions, such as the University of Melbourne. Beyond her contributions to dance, she is also a qualified Yoga Therapist, having earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy from S-Vyasa University, Bengaluru. Furthermore, Sasidharan is a notable media personality, serving as the Director and Chief of Media for M4TV Australia and an experienced Master of Ceremonies for numerous high-profile events globally.
