Sital Smruti Sahoo is an acclaimed Indian classical Odissi dancer, recognized for her extensive training and numerous national and international performances. Her foundational training in Odissi spanned two decades under the tutelage of Guru Niranjan Rout, where she specialized in the Guru Debaprasad Das style. Subsequently, she dedicated 14 years to refining her artistry under Guru BichitraNanda Swain, focusing on the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra style. Further enriching her dance education, Sahoo trained for five years in Bengaluru under Guru Smt. Sharmila Mukerjee and Guru Smt. Poornima Karthik. She also underwent two years of training at the Orissa Dance Academy in Bhubaneswar and continues to learn under Guru Smt. Lipsa Satpathy. Sahoo's distinguished career includes being an Empaneled Artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Spicmacay, as well as a Graded Artist of Doordarshan. She was a recipient of the National Junior Scholarship for ten years and later received the Senior National Scholarship for Odissi from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Government of India. Her accolades also include the National Youth Award and the State Youth Award from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and Orissa respectively. She was honored with the Rajiv Gandhi Pratibha Puraskar by the Governor of Orissa and the Biju Patnaik Award from the Chief Minister of Orissa. Her performance repertoire is extensive, encompassing solo Odissi presentations at prestigious events such as the International Odissi Dance Festival 2022, the 13th Annual Biswa Odissi Utsav 2022, and the Global Mega Classical Dance Festival 2022. Sahoo has graced international stages, performing at the Kala Utsav and Odissi Utsav in Osaka, Japan (2009), Namaste India in Tokyo, Japan (2009), and the FM cocolo Asia-Pacific Festival in Osaka (2009). She also performed at the Uday Shankar Festival in Kolkata and the World Aids Day event in Manipur. In 2023, she received an award in the 'Dance in its own disciplines' category at the International Festival of Dance and the Dances in Nepi, Italy. Sahoo has also mentored students who have gone on to receive national scholarships and pursue solo dance careers.
