Dr. Smriti Talpade is an accomplished Indian classical dancer, guru, and researcher specializing in Kathak. She is a distinguished disciple of the late Smt. Asha Joglekar, a prominent figure in Kathak. Dr. Talpade has significantly contributed to the academic understanding of Kathak, having been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Kathak Dance from Sri Sri University in Cuttack. Her doctoral thesis, titled "The Application of Chandashastra in Kathak Nritya: An Analytical Study," reflects her deep engagement with both the practical and theoretical aspects of the dance form. As a performer, Smriti Talpade has showcased her artistry on various platforms. Her performances include participating in a group dance for a live singing concert by Shankar Mahadevan for MNS – Raj Tahakre, and appearing at the TV Channel Sahyadri Hirkani Awards. She was also part of a group dance in a song for the movie 'Married to America,' alongside Guru Archana Joglekar and actor Jackie Shroff. Demonstrating her choreographic and directorial skills, she conceived, organized, and performed a Kathak ballet named 'Vibgyor,' dedicated as a tribute to her guru, Asha Joglekar. Dr. Talpade is the founder and head of Nrityasmriti.Academy Of Performing arts, an institution dedicated to imparting Kathak training. Through her academy, she continues her guru's legacy by nurturing the next generation of Kathak dancers, emphasizing grace, discipline, and creativity in her teachings. She is based in Mumbai, India.
