Smt. Ipsita Mitra is an Indian classical dancer, performer, teacher, choreographer, and researcher, specializing in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniattam, and Kathakali. She is the Artistic Director of "Srishti Nrityalaya School of Performing Arts LLC," based in Frisco, Texas, USA. Mitra began her Bharatanatyam training at the age of three. She received her initial training from "Kalamandalam Kolkata," an institution established in 1968 by Guru Govindan Kutty and Guru Smt. Thankamani Kutty, which is recognized as a premier institution for Indian classical dances in Eastern India. She later pursued a Masters' Degree in Bharatanatyam, under the guidance of Dr. Padmaja Suresh, Dr. Divyasena S, Dr. Karuna V, and Dr. Sujatha Mohan. Mitra is an ardent enthusiast in exploring and expanding Bharatanatyam in the Kalakshetra Bani globally. She has had the opportunity to work with traditional Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi Gurus, including Smt. Vyjayanthi Kashi. She has also been an active member of the Eastern Zonal Cultural Center (EZCC) in India, contributing to fusion-style choreography and attending workshops by renowned gurus such as Meenakshi Shrinivasan, Vaibhav Arekar, and Mythili Prakash. As a performer, she has graced stages in both India and the U.S., actively contributing to the community through choreographing musical pieces and performing Nrityaseva at various temples in Dallas, Texas. Her research interests include Temple Architecture and Studies (Agamashastra) and Ancient Dance Studies in India, and she has conducted dance education workshops in both India and the U.S.. Smt. Ipsita Mitra was honored with the "Natya Pratibha" Award by the Indian Fine Arts Academy (IFAA) in 2025. Her school, Srishti Nrityalaya, has been recognized as the "Best Performing Arts School" in 2019, 2023, 2024, and 2025. She mentors students post-Arangetram for further graduate and postgraduate studies in Bharatanatyam. Awards & Honours: Natya Pratibha Award (2025).
