Smt. Manga Surendran is an artistic director and choreographer specializing in Bharatanatyam and dance dramas. She is the founder and leader of Eswaralaya Kalaikoodam, a prominent Indian classical dance institution. Smt. Surendran was the first student to perform an arangetram under the tutelage of the late Smt. Gowri Muthukumarasami. Her extensive training also includes studies with Smt. Balasundari Prathalingam and Smt. Subathra Sivadasan in Sri Lanka. Further enhancing her skills, she underwent an extensive training course at Kalakshetra, Chennai. Smt. Surendran began her teaching career in a leading school in Colombo, Sri Lanka. As a student in Sri Lanka, she performed countless solo recitals and group dances. Eswaralaya Kalaikoodam was initially established in Sri Lanka in 1981, later moved to New Zealand in 1988, and has been successfully operating in Southeast Queensland, Australia, since 2003. The academy teaches Bharatanatyam in the Kalakshetra style and is recognized as one of the leading dance schools in Queensland. Smt. Surendran regularly attends the Naatya Kala Conference held annually in Chennai to stay updated with developments in India. With over 30 years of teaching experience, she has guided 11 talented students through their Arangetram performances, with events held in Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Brisbane, Australia. She is known for her unique ability to train students in Bharatanatyam, folk dances, and dance dramas.
